Privacy
We collect nothing. Here's the long version.
This policy covers the iOS apps PocketStrum and Wonderchord, and the website at pocketstrum.com. Both apps are published under the App Store privacy label Data Not Collected.
What the apps collect
Nothing. There is no analytics SDK, no crash reporter, no advertising identifier, no third-party framework that phones home, and no account system. The apps do not ask for your name, email address, location, contacts, photos or microphone.
What the apps send over the internet
Nothing. Neither app opens a network connection in normal use. Both work fully offline, in aeroplane mode, with no signal, forever. You can verify this yourself with any network monitoring tool.
What is stored on your device
A small amount of ordinary app data, held locally in the app's own sandbox and never transmitted:
- PocketStrum — your chosen skin (Classic or Modern), voice, tempo, rhythm, fader positions and the left-handed setting.
- Wonderchord — the stars your child has earned and their chosen voice.
- Recordings you make in PocketStrum stay on your device until you delete them or share them somewhere yourself.
Deleting the app deletes all of it. There is no copy anywhere else, because there is nowhere else.
Children's privacy
Wonderchord is designed for children aged 2–6 and was built to comply with Apple's Kids category requirements and with COPPA. It contains no advertising, no in-app purchases, no analytics, no social features, no user-generated content, and no links that lead out of the app. It does not knowingly or unknowingly collect personal information from anyone, of any age, because it collects no information at all. The grown-ups area sits behind a press-and-hold parent gate.
Purchases
Both apps are one-time purchases made through the Apple App Store. Apple processes the payment and Apple holds the customer relationship. I never see your payment details, your address, or your email address. If you'd like to know what Apple does with that information, see Apple's privacy policy.
This website
pocketstrum.com is a set of static files hosted on GitHub Pages. It sets no cookies and runs no advertising or cross-site tracking scripts. Two things are worth naming honestly:
- Server logs. GitHub, as the host, records standard web-server information such as IP address and browser type when a page is requested. This is automatic and I don't have access to it in any identifiable form. See GitHub's privacy statement.
- Visitor counts. If privacy-friendly, cookieless analytics are in use on this site, they record aggregate page views and referrers only — no cookies, no cross-site profiles, no personal data, and nothing sold or shared.
The playable demos on this site generate sound entirely in your browser. Nothing you play is recorded or transmitted.
There is no mailing list and no signup form on this site. The only way to reach me is to email me directly, and if you do, I keep that email in my inbox so I can reply to you. I don't add you to anything, and I don't pass your address to anyone.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR and the EU GDPR you have the right to access, correct, export or delete personal data held about you. For the apps themselves there is nothing to request, because none is held. If you've emailed me and would like that correspondence deleted, just ask and I'll action it promptly and confirm when it's done.
Changes to this policy
If this ever changes, the date below changes with it, and any change that affects what the apps do will be described in the App Store release notes as well.
