Something not working?

These apps are made by one person in the UK, and that person answers the email. Write to connorclements@hotmail.com and you'll usually hear back within two working days.

If you're reporting a problem, it helps enormously if you include your device (e.g. iPhone 14), your iOS version, the app and its version number, and what you were doing when it went wrong.

PocketStrum

There's no sound

It stopped when I opened another app

PocketStrum keeps playing in the background by design. If it stops, check Settings → PocketStrum and make sure background audio isn't being restricted, and that Low Power Mode isn't on — iOS aggressively suspends audio in Low Power Mode.

MIDI isn't reaching GarageBand / Logic / my synth

The strumplate feels like it's in the wrong place

There's a left-handed option in settings that flips the strumplate and chord panel.

How do I record and get the file out?

Tap record, play, tap stop, then use the share button. From there you can send it to Messages, Mail, Files, Voice Memos, or straight into another audio app.

Wonderchord

My child can't get out of a song

Every song has a stop control at the top of the screen. If "Wait for me!" mode is on, the song is deliberately paused waiting for a pad to be pressed — the glowing pad is the one it wants. Switch the mode off in the grown-ups area if you'd rather songs simply play through.

Where is the grown-ups area?

Press and hold the grown-ups button. The hold is deliberate — it's a parent gate, so a toddler tapping randomly can't get in.

How do I stop my child leaving the app?

Wonderchord contains no links out and makes no network connections, so there's nowhere to go. For a full lock, turn on Guided Access: Settings → Accessibility → Guided Access, then triple-click the side button inside the app.

Are the stars saved?

Yes, on the device only. They're never uploaded anywhere, which also means they don't follow the child to a different iPad.

Purchases, refunds and restoring

I bought it and it's not on my other device

Make sure both devices are signed into the same Apple Account, then open the App Store, tap your photo, tap Purchased, and install it from there. There's no in-app "restore" button because there's nothing to restore — the whole app is the purchase.

I'd like a refund

Refunds are handled entirely by Apple, not by me — I can't issue one even if I want to. Go to reportaproblem.apple.com, sign in, and choose the purchase. If the reason is a bug, please email me too so I can fix it for the next person.

Family Sharing

Both apps support Family Sharing, so up to six family members can install them from one purchase.

Feature requests and bugs

Both very welcome, at the same address. I read everything. A lot of what's in these apps arrived because somebody wrote in and asked.
